EPOS Solutions – Looking for a cheap deal?

There are various epos solutions on the market and a lot of cheap deals.

But should you go for cheap and what are the risks?

Common Risks with Cheap EPOS Solutions

Hidden costs – Many companies lure you in with a cheap up front cost on their epos solutions for hardware.  These deals look appealing until you look at the small print.  One such company offers epos for £150, but then when you look at the small print you see £39 per month for software per device.

Add ons & restricted features – It’s worth checking what features you get for the price and if everything is included.  Often certain features are restricted and then you have to pay extra each month and sign up for them.  Eg.  Loyalty schemes & integrations to accountancy software

Support limitations – Again, many epos solutions require an extra fee for support.  Or you only get email support and need to pay extra for phone support.

How to pay for your EPOS solution?

It’s also worth considering how you want to pay for your epos system.epos solutions

You can usually buy everything up front or lease it.

Buying up front is usually cheaper overall, but here are some factors to consider…

  1. If you buy equipment, it’s yours to maintain and after the 1 year warranty then you’ll be stuck with any costs for repair
  2. With a lease deal, this usually includes free replacement of equipment that breaks down
  3. Buying equipment can get costly.  Once you’ve bought a screen, printer, cash drawer and more, it can get pricey.  So leasing your epos solution may make more sense over a few years
  4. Software – Although hardware is bought or leased, make sure you don’t sign up to any long software leasing or purchase deals.  Software should usually be 30 days notice to cancel and you can usually use other software inside your epos solutions

Lastly, You may also want to consider taking a card machine or PDQ with your epos solution.  Remember to check if it’s the same provider as often you’ll get referred off to a third party and things can get complicated.

At Breathe Payments, we offer different pricing to suit you and your business, transparent pricing and full support is always free.  Plus the software never comes with a long contract.
